When the struggle stops

hope and despair.jpg

You struggle. You fight, fall down, cry, get up and fight again. You struggle. There is a little ray of hope. There is a tiny straw to hold on to. There is something, even tiny something to look forward to. You grasp for air, you try to breathe. The struggle intensifies. The fight gets tougher. You allow the strongest warrior in you to emerge. And then… you lose. You drown. You spiral down the darkness.

There is nothing to fight for anymore. There is nothing to live for anymore. There is nothing you can do to survive anymore.

That’s when the struggle stops.

In that moment of suffering, you realise you are still breathing. You are alive. There are still some traces of life within you.

The only thing you can do now is live. The only thing you can see in darkness is a ray of light. Every tiny steam of light is brighter than ever.

The struggle stops.

Everything that comes from here is brighter and easier.

The only thing that exists now is hope.

The moment of absolute despair is also the moment of absolute hope.

When the struggle stops, you are not giving up, you are embracing life in all its colours and opening your mind to possibilities. Life just stops being a struggle. When you have nothing to lose, nothing to tie you down, vast skies open up for you.
